Christmas eve was always such a fun night as a kid. I really miss those days.

1973 ad:

I have to admit, until I viewed the image full-sized I thought it was a fashion ad. Whatever.

Random find. I swear.

I have fairly good memories from 1973, but obviously it wasn't a great year for everybody..

Misc. Remembrance:

In the late '70s, there was a guy in our town named Stephen Gay. I guess he was a pretty prominent member of the town, because after he passed away, somebody on the town's zoning board proposed that a certain street's name be changed to "Gay Way" in Stephen's honor. Needless to say it didn't pass...

The "Chevette":

Mom purchased one in '78 from my future stepfather. Yes, she married her car salesman. I had 3 myself. Up until the mid-'90s you could still buy these used for about 500 bucks. Each one lasted me a few years. I lived in one of them, but that's for another post. They used to be everywhere, now you don't even see them in salvage yards. One day they all just disappeared.. For the money they were a pretty decent car, and from the different ads I saw they got about 40 mpg highway. I doubt they'll ever become collector items though. I guess the Chevette's gone for good.
